Little Explorers Community Nursery is an established private day care setting in Blacker Hill, Barnsley. We are a 44 place nursery open 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday 50 weeks of the year.

We are based in the heart of our community providing a range of day care for children ages 0-5years and provide funding sessions for eligible children.

At Little Explorers we have a team of experienced early year's educators, two owners who are also the managers, an experienced in house chef and our highly skilled cleaners. We are all very passionate about our roles and are dedicated to providing an outstanding experience for our children and their families.

We are passionate about early years as well as creating partnerships with our families, providing opportunities for them to be part of their children's little explorers journey. This is so important to ensure children's individual needs are met but also so we can work alongside our wonderful families, providing support for them too.

Our Rooms

We have three individual rooms to support the children through their journey. This is our Mini Explorers, Little Explorers and Mighty Explorers. We recruit passionate and committed staff and we invest heavily in furthering their knowledge, enhancing their skills and retaining them. We have created a team that is passionate about Little Explorers as a workplace and the families and children they care for.

Mini Explorers

In the Mini Explorers room, we provide high quality care and learning opportunities to children aged 0-2 years.

We provide a home from home environment to reflect home routine and ensure our mini explorers feel comfortable, safe and relaxed. This is where the best learning takes place. We have a play space, studio space, separate nappy space, separate sleep room and outdoor spaces.

Little Explorers

In the Little Explorers room, we provide high quality care and learning opportunities to children ages 2-3 years.

We provide a wide range of open ended resources where children can explore and lead their own learning with support of our early years educators. We have a play space, studio space, separate toilet and nappy area and outdoor spaces. We also have our very own integrated resource room which is called our Rainbow Den. In the Mighty Explorers room, we provide high quality learning opportunities to children ages 3-5 years.

We provide a wide range of open ended resources where children can lead their own learning and discoveries which also challenges and extends their thinking. We support your children to develop life skills so they can flourish after leaving us to go onto School. We have a play space, studio space, separate toilet area and outdoor spaces.

Mighty Explorers

Our Kitchen & Restaurant

We pride ourselves with our very own in-house chef Dan. Our chef provides freshly cooked meals for your little ones on a four week rolling rota. Our children rave about Dan's food and their families are always asking for the secret recipes. We are a nut free setting and cater to each individual child's dietary requirements.

Our Restaurant

We have our very own separate meal space which supports our little and mighty explorers with developing social skills, relationships and communication all around the yummy food they have access to. Dan and our early years educators support the children's independence skills and following simple boundaries within the restaurant.

Here to inspire and support others

We work very closely with Barnsley's consultants and quality improvement team as well as other agencies in the community to ensure we are providing the best space for our little learners.

We work closely with Barnsley College and have our very own academy classroom. Our owners attend sessions to inspire and support individuals who are looking to enter the wonderful world of early years. Be the inspiration for our future little learners!

On top of this, we also organise a variety of events for our community such as SENDCO coffee mornings, Summer festivals and more! Keep an eye out on our socials for our upcoming events.
